    power steering pump

I have to get a new p/s pump. Is there a preffered pump to get and is it an easy job?

If I was going to replace mine I would get a Ford Reman unit from Tasca ford in RI. I've heard horror stories about aftermarket reman units.

If it is not a Ford reman I would pass on it, they are not fun to change out 5 or 6 times. Tasca Ford has them for under $120.

What is procedure when you replace power steering pump. Just replaced mine, filled it with p/s fluid, fired it up and foamy p/s fluid gushing out of cap. Need quick answer, under car right now.

That foam is air in the system. It should purge its self, slowly turn the steering lock to lock (keep check on the fluid) several times.

Thanks . Its working now, although I still have a hum. Maybe still air in the system???? Could the rack make a similar sound? 1st thing I did was remove the serpintine belt......no noise,so I figured it was the p/s pump.

Humming should get better with time. Some noise is common on some of the Ford P/S pumps, but shouldn't be too loud.
