Considering switching to synthetic motor oil for my 2006. It has 92,000 currently. Is this a good/bad idea or really makes no difference for around town and commuting use?

IMHO only If it doesn't have any weeps or leaks and it is not using any oil you could probably get away with a switch. If you don't have any history on the car I would use regular motor and change every 1000-1500 miles a few times to clean every out and then make the switch.

Ok, thanks. I've dealt with leaking issues with Harleys I switched over. They didn't leak on dino oil but mysteriously sprung leaks on synthetic. Had to switch most of them back which not the best idea.
Synthetics will leak easier than conventional because of the molecular differences. I switched mine over at 98K and haven't had any issues. Been using synthetics in all of my vehicles and never had an oil related failure or issue yet.
I switched mine over at 115,000 without any problems whatsoever. My only complaint (not really) about synthetic is that is stays so clean and transparent for the first 2000 miles or so, making it hard to see the level on the dipstick...I will change it every 5000 miles.
Current modern high quality syn oils have an additive that will help keep the seals swelled, that same as dino oils, to prevent leaks.

Switched to synthetic the day I bought my P71 (148,000mi, didn't care what was in it before, sprung a leak at the oil cooler line (o-ring areas) after a couple oil changes leak disappeared, I'm at 163,000 miles and still leak free, Go with synthetic.
I switched to synthetic at 123XXX with no problems. Engine loved it. IMO go for it.
