After several bad experiences with some of the local shops, I most definitely do all the work I can, with the exception of alignment issues and mount and balance (only 1 set of rims at the time). Every now and then, I get in a bind regarding free time and have to put my trust in someone...but avoid it if possible. Now that the weather is cooler up here, the noise has vanished...but an alignment might be a good idea just as a base line (maybe the "pros" will see something obvious that I can deal with on my own).
