    Exhaust Work

I have read a bit on changing the exhaust out for better horse power, and things like that, but currently my rear cat on the passenger side has gone bad, rattling pretty bad. I am trying to find out if its a better idea to just replace the cat, or get a straight pipe to stick in its place and bypass it all together. There is no emissions in my state, so that would not be an issue, but i am wondering about power/economy/sound differences. I really dont want it to be louder. Thanks in advance for any info you guys have

Can you take the cat off easily(unbolt) or will you have to cut it off?(welded on) If you can take it off and remove the innards and put it back on youll be ok and still look legal. The stuff inside the cat is worth a few bucks, turn it in at scrap place.

It unbolts, but not where i can access the second cat. The "flange" where it unbolts from is in front of the first cat, and there are all welds going back from there. I am thinking its easy enough to cut and replace it with a shot of straight pipe, and the car already has a quad cat system. But again, where i live there is no inspection, so its legal to run straight pipes all the way header back as long as the noise isn't over a certain level. I just dont want it to be louder, i dont want it to stand out in traffic at all. Love that people think its still an in service vehicle.

You'll lose horsepower running no cats if your n/a. Running a blower is a different story.
Better off with hi flow cats like bassani's. You'll still get some back pressure and hold hp or with a tune you'll gain. Also not super loud but will give more flow through your mufflers so you'll hear it.

I am seeing now that the previous owner had to replace the second back cat on the pass side, they welded everything in instead of using the flange, so the H pipe and cats are all one tube. I am gonna replace the full exhaust i think, now its just finding the right one, any suggestions?

Could you get it on a lift and show some pics of how it is now?

Any head way on the exhaust work?
I'd like to hear it when it's done.
