    A/C Clutch

So, i had the A/C Compressor replaced a few months back, ended up doing the idler pulley, tensioner assembly, new belt, new switch to the A/C Compressor, checked relays etc...Well, the clutch still didn't work as it would not engage unless done manually at which point it would turn right off.

Basically, i was told the remanded A/C Compressor didn't work. Now, i know it is not a new part and i would LIKE to think they check the parts before shipping them out, but who knows. However, i do believe it is something small as the guy who worked on the car didn't seem to care too much.

So, i was told to have the air gap checked. I was also thinking that maybe there could be an electrical problem in which the clutch isn't getting charged or any power to it.

Either way, i am gonna have MY mechanic take a look Friday morning and hopefully it can be a quick fix. I have replaced Alternators on my truck, they are nice and high and easy to get too, but the A/C Compressor on the P71's is much lower and much more of a pain in the ass, so i am willing to pay to avoid that headache. I just hope i can save a hundred bucks by having it fixed, without having to pay to have this Compressor taken out and replaced by a new one under warranty.

Any and all thoughts are appreciated.

    Re: A/C Clutch

    True story.
I bought the interceptor like a month and a half ago and the ac needed to be charged because it wasn't kicking on and staying on because it was low. Was just on for 3 seconds and shut right down.

I purchased one of those r134 cans that comes with the hose and gauge from autozone. Damn thing wouldn't take a charge for sh!t. Was out there playing with the valve on the can, turning the ac and blower on and off........bottom line, I don't know what made me look at the inside of the clip on connector that goes on your ac line but the little pin that is suppose to stick out so it pushes the valve attached to your line open to accept the gas was broken off. That's right, cheap azz autozone crap that I played with for about 20 minutes. Drove back to autozone and swapped it for a good one and I was home free and freezing my beans off in 2 minutes.

Just sayin', sometimes it's something so stupid that you're embarrassed to even check it or oblivious that it can actually be that simple.
