    Hello,

For those wanting to install Positraction but not wanting to change gear ratios here is an Item I will be installing down the Road. The beauty is The Carrier does not have to be removed so a person can do it themselves without paying big bucks.

You will need to know if you have 28 or 31 Spline Axles and Axle Size on the 28 Spline. I believe most if not all have 31 Spline Axles in the p71 Package But be advised you need to know. The Later cars in the FORD parts Data Base clearly show Axle Splines while earlier ones do not. In my Case on Fordparts.com my 06 Shows only one choice which is 31 spline.

If you use fordparts.com scroll down to base part number click on it and use base part number 4234 to bring up an axle. a vin number will narrow the choices if used on home page. For those axles which do not list size or spline a {GOOD DEALER PARTSMAN} can get that info for you. I did it for 27 Years as an FYI.

Be advised to do this Mod at you own Risk and weigh all options. I would advise a call to richmond if you have any more questions on the use of this in your P71. Be advised if you changing to a lower numerical rear gear which in my opinion is not a driveway mod for the average guy because it requires specialized tools and expertize Btw. The lokrite may not be the way to go. I have a 3.27 Rear which is fine for my purposes but open case is not.

If you are going to a 3.73 and going to have to have a pro do the job and you do not have posi you may want to go another route.

    Enjoy,

    KC

Re: Positraction installed in your driveway

Installed an Aussie in my Chrysler 8.25. All the lunchbox lockers install about the same. Main thing is it needs to be an open carrier to start with and it ain't no limited slip when your done,it is locked.
[Only registered and activated users can see links. ] Took about an hour to do by myself with no special tools.
