I've compiled some pictures of ford steering columns in various stages of disassembly. The basic design of our steering columns remained the same between the 1990 through 2004 model years. In 2005, the steering column was completely redesigned and no parts are shared with the earlier cars.

The 2003 taurus column pictured will fit in a 1995-2002 crownvic if the transmission shifter handle and cable bracket are swapped out for their crownvic counterparts.
