    Re: Steering

If you jack the front end of the car up so both tires are off the ground, then slowly let it back down, you will probably be able to see and hear the knock if it's a ball joint. Mine has the same issue on the right side, I had some wondering on the road and some pulling to one side. My right upper ball joint is bad. When letting the front-end back down, I could see the top of the tire move abruptly and a loud thump. I haven't changed it yet, just won't be driving 100mph and taking it easy until I do. I just wish Ford would have put grease zirks on the pivoting joints on the front end. Besides the ball joint, my front-end seems tight, but all the rubber grease holders seem dry upon inspection.
I hope this helps a little for someone.

I certainly hope, for your safety and for others on the road you won't be driving over 10Mph. How do you plan on controlling that thing when that top ball joint breaks and the whole side folds underneath the car??????????

HAHA! It's not that bad yet. I'm not an idiot and have been working on cars since I was a little kid. It will be getting replaced soon. I just noticed it last weekend when I rotated my tires. Thanks for worrying though!

Why is it ALWAYS the right upper ball-joint with these cars ? lol The new joint I installed came with a grease zirk, even though it ain't broken yet, I'm thinking of changing over the left B-joint with the same thing when I've got some spare cash

Think of how many right turns you make as opposed to left hand turns, thats why its more common for the right side to go first. =)
