How we acquire our CVPI's ?

What got you to buy a Police Interceptor ? Me, it was the 'net, knowing a few detectives, and general basic mechanical non-stupidity. It is what it is, a big, 7 year old, heavy, spartan, white, gas-loving behemoth that runs beautifully and will get more TLC this spring. It rocks.

I bought mine completely impulsively. I saw it on the lot at the local Ford dealer, I drove it, I bought it. I was very worried that I'd made a mistake, as the two previous Fords I'd owned both had total transmission failures. I've put about 5,000 miles on it, and so far, so good!
When I get it back from the paint shop, I'll have a crazy amount of money in it, but I'm not stopping until I've spent more ludicrous amounts!
It's a 2006 model, so it's fairly current as far as options and features.

I too, have paint on my mind in the next few months. I want to "tune" it with an SCT via Brenspeeds and install the carpet ( dark grey) this spring. It's kind of like my feelings toward the Mustang....only different.

I installed carpet that was molded to fit, but required cutting of the edges and mounting holes. I think I might consider OEM if I had to do it again, even at twice the price. The exact fit might just be worth it. I have a Diablo Predator here for when the car comes home.

Found mine on the NET, Auto trader to be exact. The mechanic that owned it had an entire collection of worn-in CVPI's. I simply choose the one that intimidated me the most lol Paid 2500 for it, came with a brand new Navy-blue paintjob, velvet blue interior, functioning spotlights, (though I must note it was a retired K9 unit so dog hair was everywhere lol) Anyhells, only had to buy a bigger battery for it and get the front wheels aligned, other than a blown colynoid, and squeaky steering, car hasn't had any major engine/mechanical problems for 4000+ miles

My Ford Bronco died from a cracked Head. So after shopping around for a new car on Craigslist I found a guy who buys PI's at auctions and resells them. So I drove the 8 hours to his house just to test drive it... I forked out the $3,000 and drove it home!

I actually found mine while looking at what was supposed to be 98 honda accord but was a typo and was an 89. He had just bought it at auction and it had a whiney sounding water pump. He threw in a water pump and some anti-freeze and I forked over the 2500 big ones.

Mine is ex probabtion dept in Sacramento P 71. Street Package - so its comfy and big. They tinted the rear windows - I'll leave that way for the moment. 2000 49K $3500. Cash. The man bought it for about $2750.00. Dont ask how I know but databases are wonderful in CA. It sat in a warehouse for a while but new tires fitted and a gentle washdown of the engine got rid of most of the dust and such. Only errors found in 2 months of ownership: Cruise Control doesnt work - who needs that? AC might need a recharge. And still in dark mode - but this site showed me how to fix that little issue. Oh and the seatbelt chime - I learnt how to disable that clanging annoyance.

Drove police cars for 20 years. Owned them as taxis for 13 years. Currently have a 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis with 102,000 miles. Also a 1989 Crown Vic LX with 71,000 miles. Should be happy with what I have but just could not get police package out of my brain and went to auction with dealer friend in Augusta, GA

Now if I can just figure out why passenger headlight is dimmer than the drivers I'll be great. They replaced 2 LCMs (a phrase I have never heard before) then auctioned it off.
