    Re: SCT installsed/ '04 P71

The school should have a SCT. How are they going to train their mechanics to program a computer without one?

We might have one at the school, but im not sure. I am getting ready to start the advanced engine performance and electrical course here soon, so perhaps the instructor has one. But even still, wont i need a specific "tune" for my CVPI?

That would be nice, but it does allow you to set just about whatever you want. What are you wanting or expecting out of a tune without any modifications.

    Re: SCT installsed/ '04 P71

You gotta realize, i understand i wont be getting any record breaking performance increases without some mods in line with a ecm flash, but itd be nice to tweak the settings so to speak enough to net me some increased low end torque and mid range power. Like i mentioned before, being a full time student doesnt exactly warrant me having the spare cash to buy and install the modifications i would like to do to this baby. Not to mention my luck sucks, about the time i get any decent money to buy anything for the interceptor, something else comes up and snatches the cheddar right out of my hands lol

I just want the ability to take my vic against my friends 5.4 powered stang and show him whats up lol

although freaking him out when i sneak up on him on the highway and make him think im the 5 0 is pretty good for laughs lol

Well let give you a little "Fatherly" advice. The P71s are tweaked out stock CVs. If cash is low don't spend it on what is already there. (basically) There is nothing you can do to the computer to impress a 5.4 Mustang with your stock engine. SCT is not the only brand tuner out there either. Your instructor can probably tweak it for you when you get to that part of your class and both of you will probably be a lot of fun setting different it to do different things. For $500 you could put in a nitrous system for a 30 to 150 HP gain. Mine is set on 125 HP gain and that is quite impressive.

If you wanna pull on a 5.4 mustang or at least keep up, get some stage-1 cams, port/polished intake manifold, some longtube headers, an electric water-pump, a K&N CAI, a stroker kit, some 4.10 gears, a 4000 stall torque converter, a high performance valve body for the tranny, then get a dino tune Pricey but that's what it'll take. NOS can blow your sh**t up if you're not careful, and even then, it puts heavy wear and tear on the engine and drivetrain.
