    Re: Shocks and springs

A good set of heavy duty gas filled shocks will do the best job of controlling both the compression and rebound while the springs control the firmness of the ride as well as determine the final ride height.
May want to look at top name brand shocks and springs such as Bilstein, Koni, or KYB shocks and possibly Ford Motorsport or even new P71 replacement springs since the performance spring companies will probably be a combination of performance and lowering spring which of course won't help you with your ground clearance.

The taller tire suggestion is seriously the only way you will get more ground clearance overall which includes your rearend/differential housing.
Raising your suspension above stock will only mess with your front end components, alignment, tierod angles, camber etc.

    Re: Shocks and springs

Check out Kyb heavy duty /adjustable shocks.
Shocks are not made like they used to be, and much more expensive. Make sure you get a lifetime warranty !
Spring over shock types seems to be very stiff. Front and rear available
I like my cars to ride like a truck, very stiff.
I understand the rear spring rates from the factory vary depending on how they were ordered. I just don't remember the ordering codes/part numbers. Check with Ford.
Another option is to put "Air lift" bags inside the rear springs. Not the most modern way, but it works well.
    Good luck
