    fatties

Anyone know what is the fattest tire and wheel combo that will fit in the rear, looks like a ton of room and I like fatties (tires).

Would really like to keep the cop style steel wheels and caps but want much wider wheels.

I've seen shots with huge tires under this body and I'm hoping they weren't tubbed, already have a backhalved/tubbed car.(told you I like fatties)

Any input on tire and wheel size, 345 60 16 on a 12" rim would be a nice ballpark size.
Rim backspace/offset maximums could dictate overall width.

    Re: fatties

If you squeeze a fat tire on a 7" rim it will cause a lot of wear on the tire. You would have to run it low on air to get all the width of the tire on the ground, but when you run tires low they build up a lot of heat and could blow out. Just buy some 8 or 9" rims. Oh I don't know if they will fit with out rubbing. Let us know when you find out.

    Thanks Slickdude,
I edited my original post to include fat rims too, kinda left it unclear at first but wasn't thinkin of squeezing big balonies on skinny rims.
Need to get under this thing and measure with a plumb bob the offset and backspace and see if there's a rim that will work.
Hope to find something that will still accept the UFO (think someone called em that) hubcaps.
May even ask a rim repair shop if they can cut out my wheel centers and re attatch a new wider rim, I've seen that done before but don't know what the cost is.

As an after thought, what is a set of 16" 2003 wheels and tires worth, car's not here at the moment but it has the Goodyear RSA (right?) 225 60 15 and fresh painted wheels with nice caps.
Just in case I find something aftermarket that I like although at this time I'm not a huge fan of spoked Mustang wheels on these cruisers.
Already have a Saleen with the spoked wheels so maybe that's why I'm thinkin that's where they belong.

I purchased a set of 4 tires and wheels and the nut covers for $50 Two of the tires had 8/32 of tread left, the other two not so hot.

If it is just for a spare you could get just a regular Ford 16" wheel and tire for probably a lot less.

Check your local Craigs List. I got wheels and decent used tires for $25 each.

    Good luck on your quest!

    Re: fatties

So, what's the fattest tire and widest wheel that will fit in the rear?
Loving the fact that the wheel needs the deep offset too. No spacers for me.
Hoping the guys with the fatties will chime in with size and offset/backspacing specs.

Around a 16X8 P275/60R16 maybe a little bigger. Put tubs in the rear and go bigger!
