    Replaced shocks today

I replaced all four shocks today on my 2002 CVPI, and those rear shocks just about sent me over the edge! It is quite apparent that engineers never spend time actually working on the cars they design. They put those dam things on before the body is installed on the assembly line. Getting them off was a real adventure and putting the new ones back in was a little easier than removing them, but it aint much easier. If you have big hands, I can't see how you would be able to work in the small space that you have to access the top mounting nuts, I just might sell the car if I need to replace them again.

Sometimes it is worth it to take it to a shop. Get an price first, then sit back and watch them earn their hourly rate !

What are good shocks for a 2006? I want to maintain a (fairly)smooth ride as well as the stock ride height of the car. How are prices on Ford OEM shocks vs. aftermarket ones?

I replaced mine with KYB shocks front and rear and they ride great. Shocks won't change your ride height unless you install air shocks. My KYB's cost about $42/ea. for the rear and $39/ea. for the fronts. Make sure you order the shocks for the Poilce Interceptor, because thet are apparently different than the ones for civilian models.
